Topic of 8/20: And I trip...

Time for the incredibly tortuous Finals again... mrrrrrrrrrr

Topic of 8/11: Back from Baltimore!!

I cringe to say this, but I went to the "Otaku Convention 2000". "Otaku", my least favorite word. Bah. I've said it many, many times and friends of mine are already sick of me keep saying this, but that doesn't stop me from saying it again. Being called an "Otaku" is NOT a compliment!!

Any how, I went with a few people, and the drive up there was quite traumatizing. Particularly when one guy (you know who you are) kept playing the soundtrack for Dragon Ball Z over and over and over and over. Not that I have a grudge on Dragon Ball, only for nostalgia's sake, but after so many "CHAAAARAAA!! HEAD-CHARAAAA!!!", more than a few of us were ready to jump off the van. Speaking of nostalgia, one of us was carrying with her Serial Experiments Lain artbook. *DROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL*. She later got it signed by Yoshihiro Anbai, who was there at the Con. Envy...

We spent 2 nights at a Holliday Inn, and I didn't get to see my friend whom we were supposed to meet there... gomen naaaaaa!! Things I bought were (besides gifts), some mangas and doujinshis, an FFVIII Gilgamesh figurine at a blockbuster price, 2 CDs, and 3 posters, which one I got signed by the artist. fufufufufu. But more than anything, we were shown the band boa live!! Awwwww yeah!! Unfortunately the crowd was kinda mellow about it...

Overall, as a first convention trip, I was very very pleased. Even though I thought the entrance fee was outrageous... In the future, I'm definitely looking forward to GAINAX's new FuLiCuLi, NieA_7 from the artist and director of Serial Experiments Lain, a 'sequel' to Vampire Hunter D (new version), and Studio IG's first ever fully digital animation Blood: The Last Vampire. I'll perhaps post the photos I've taken here including some AWESOME cosplayers who were there when the film is done... until then.
